The easiest way to get to Orcas Island is by Washington State Ferries from Anacortes. Orcas Island is a 60-minute ferry ride from Anacortes, about 80 miles from downtown Seattle, and 90 miles from Vancouver, BC (across the Canada-US border). By car, take I-5 to Exit 230 to Anacortes and the San Juan Island Ferry Terminal . Follow Highway 20 west to Anacortes and follow signs to the ferry terminal.

Taking your car on the ferry sometimes involves a wait, so bring a snack and a good book or game, or take in a meal at one of several eateries nearby, or stroll the beach at the terminal.
