Stage added to Eastsound’s Village Green: This summer’s Solstice Day Parade in June marked the completion of the unique stage on the Village Green.

orcas stage Orcas islanders donated labor and materials to the project, among them, several contractors who donated the labor of their crews.

Grants from the Orcas Island Community Foundation and the Eastsound Preservation Group helped pay for the Stage on the Green. The San Juan County Parks Department owns the entire Eastsound Village Green and is responsible for its maintenance.

The Village Green is the site for each Saturday’s Farmers Market and the annual Library Fair, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this August.

New restaurant: Mom’s TLC opened this summer just past the main intersection of North Beach Road and the “Horseshoe Highway” through Eastsound. This bright restaurant features both countertop and table dining, and boasts of Comfort Food, standbys such hamburgers and meat loaf, as well as salads.
